This week’s post is inspired by a blog post i saw on a blog i recently discovered which you can visit here. As you can see from the title it is a honey and oatmeal mask to help fight acne!
I have struggled with acne for a couple of years now and I have tried everything from a clean diet to millions upon millions of different masks and cleansing products. I feel like I have a good skincare routine now and my acne is not as bad as it was a few months ago, but there is still room for improvement and this is where this mask comes in!
First let me tell you about the different ingredients benefits and how they work:
Oats: Oats contain anti-inflammatory properties and saponins – a cleansing agent. They are also effective against dryness and redness.
Honey: Honey has antibacterial and antioxidants properties, which means it nourishes the skin and gives it a beautiful glow. It also opens up pores to make the cleansing proces easier.
Tea tree oil: With its disinfecting and soothing properties the tea tree oil will get rid of pimples without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
I usually use the mask at night after I have cleansed my face and before i apply toner. At the moment I am using the Mario Badescu Cleansing Milk with Carnation and Rice Oil which is perfect for my dry and sensitive skin!
I have used this mask for a couple of weeks now and I am already starting to see a big difference. I only get a few small pimples now, and then and the bad acne on my cheeks before using this mask has dissapeared completely and now there are only scars left.
But enough rambling – let’s get started!
You will need:
2 TB oats
2 TB honey
4 drops of tea tree oil
1. Grind the oats in a blender or food processor.
2. In a small bowl mix together oats, honey and tea tree oil with a spoon. You can also put the mixture in the food processor to get rid of the big lumps of oat – it makes it a lot easier to apply the mask!
3. Apply to face with your fingers or a flat foundation brush. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Remove with cold water and a washcloth.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s post! Let me know what you use to fight acne in the comments.
